Diving in the Suratthani province
On Koh Samui and Koh Tao you will find some of the best diving sites in the South East Asia region. Many schools are found at Sairee, Bophut, Chaweng beaches. There are also daily trips to Angthong National Marine Park and the popular Sail Rock. Whale sharks are sometimes seen at this diving spot. Koh Phangan is also good for diving and you will find scuba diving here too. The water is rich in colorful corals and has an impressive fish life. Try to find a school with experienced staff. Most of them are listed on the PADI website. To the left you will find some of the schools. If you are a beginner or advanced doesn't matter. You really can get a number of dive certification on Koh Samui and Koh Tao; Scuba diver, Adventure diver, Advanced diver, Dive master, Rescue diver and so on. If you do not have that much time, there are also short basic courses available. You can borrow all equipment you need, or buy some of it at many of these schools. The weather is normally good for scuba diving, but it might be a little windy in October, November and December so the visibility is not as good then. Further information about the weather and the climate in this region is found here.
Snorkeling and more
Snorkeling here can be excellent when the visibility is good. You will find all the equipment at the diving schools, or if you looking for something basic, in a super market. We would definitely recommend you to pay a few baht extra for better quality and safer equipment. A mask made of silicon is often a little more expensive than one made of rubber or plastic, but it often last much longer. You can easily book a snorkeling trip in most diving schools and travel agencies. Why not try a snorkeling trip to Angthong National Marine Park or a weekend, or more, on the beautiful island of Koh Tao. Kayaking and windsurfing is also fun and also a great to get in good shape. You can rent the equipment on the main beaches or at many of the resorts on the islands. Jet ski is not as good exercise but anyhow it is a lot of fun. Please pay a little attention if you rent one though. No swimmers like to get their sculls hit by one of these.

Respect marine resources
"Take only photos, leave only bubbles" is a great diver's motto. When diving or snorkeling near a coral reef, please do not touch, or collect anything from it. Let coming generations enjoy diving in this area too. A coral reefs do not rebuild fast. Also shells and other natural sea objects belongs to the oceans. But to collect and throw away garbage found in the sea is definitely avery honorable act. Be wise and care about the environment. It is our children's world too.
